SEMA Is Awesome and Formula Drift Comes Back to Our Hometrack!

Faruk Kugay, Pro 1 Formula Drift driver, Sonoma Drift Manager, and competitor on Netflix’s Hyperdrive, by Executive Producer Charlize Theron, is attending the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show and has been making special appearances at the BorgWarner and King Engine Bearings booths throughout the week.

Faruk and his car, a BMW E92 chassis paired with a Toyota inline-6 2JZ engine, appeared in multiple episodes of Hyperdrive. The engine’s power adders are a BorgWarner EFR 9174 turbo along with a nitrous oxide system. Altogether the effect is a signature sound that’s as thrilling to hear as his electrifying drifting style is to watch. The car and videos of it in action are on display this week at SEMA at the BorgWarner booth.

King Engine Bearings provide the strength and stability for the extreme performance needed for engines competing at top levels in automotive and aviation motorsports. As part of their partner recognition program, King Engine Bearings has presented Faruk with an award.

"Through all the troubles that Northern California has been having with wildfires, the power outages made preparing for the SEMA show extremely difficult. I personally want to thank our amazing team and phenomenal partners for having the same “never quit” attitude we live day in and day out! Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the fires. I look forward to our final Wednesday Night Drift of the year, at Sonoma Drift next week on November 13th. I hope our vibrant local events act as a much needed entertaining distraction for our locals from these stressful times.

In addition to being incredibly well received in the BorgWarner booth, we’ve had the amazing honor to announce that Formula Drift Pro and Pro 2 is coming to Sonoma Raceway for the 2020 season. This has been something that I have dreamed of since I started managing Sonoma Drift five years ago. I would like to thank our amazing local drifting community for making our events large and dynamic enough to show the importance of our market to the top drifting series in the world. As Sonoma Drift, we are inviting everyone to Winter Jam on December 21st - 22nd to experience our amazing community in the largest drifting festival in California. Over the last years we have seen 350+ drivers each year at our Winter Jam event which features six tracks over two days, one of which of which will be the Formula Drift track for 2020.

We are super excited to announce our renewed and new partnerships in the upcoming months as we build our Nissan S14 for the Formula Drift 2020 season."
